What tool is required to cut a plinth while on the wall?
We need to replace a bathroom vanity alcove with one that is 3 inches deep as this one. The base board is faced with the vanity. It is very new and just painted and caulked, etc. then I would be able to simply trim 3 ". I saw them do a show HGTV DIY (designed to sell) with a special saw, but does not remember her name. They were able to get it right next to the baseboard on the wall / floor and cut without cutting the floor or drywall over the meaning baseboard must not be pulled back, trimmed, caulked and repainted. Anyone know what has been called or has seen this type of saw could do? Thank you.
Having done this before, if I understand you really want to cut off the backboard 3 "to fit a cabinet WIDER. (Depth is the front position of Cabinet on the back) Use a knife to mark the vertical line on the baseboard. You can use a cheap Japanese 'pull-saw '(Instantly cuts rather than pulling pushing motion as a regular saw) to cut along this line, holding the saw upright resting on the floor and pull up each race. You can corner a wide putty knife between the baseboard and wall to protect the wall, or use a ribbon. It will take some doin 'but it can be done. Hope that helps.
