Need information on the stair design / construction?
Can anyone direct me to a good source where I can learn bending wood for curved staircase and installing the required tread angles? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you
Construction curve of a staircase from scratch is probably the toughest test for both a rough and / or finish carpentry skills. Today most curved staircases are built by specialists from outside the site of stairs, broken down and transported to the site where They are installed by the company that created them. If you are located dead on building your own set of stairs, there are a lot of information detailed to guide you through the process stairbuilding curve. Books, magazines, online resources, and videos are all valuable sources of information practices. If you live in a metropolitan area with a library public good, chances are good that they have several good books stairbuilding to lend. You can also view the books available at Lowe's or Home Depot. You can also consult the manuals stairbuilding on the Amazon site, but make sure read the reader comments before ordering. For my money, the best source of practical "how to" information for the past 20 years has was "Fine home building", published by Taunton Press. They released quite a few articles on this subject and the articles should be available online if you are a subscriber. At the very least, you can get a copy at all good magazine stand and look for books they offer for sale. They are a great source of information. All of them after a large number of "how to" information on their respective websites. A Yahoo search for the construction of stairs "(include the quotation marks in the Yahoo search box) yields 15,000 results. A search for "build curved stairs" gives 193 results. I am sure you will find a wealth of valuable information if you invest a little time. Good luck with your stair building project.
