How do shutters cost?

The material is the best: wood, plastic or MDF?
Basswood is the strongest and lightest filling material, but tends to be the most expensive as well (similar upgrade to iron to steel). Some manufacturers have turned to Cedar, poplar, pine or exotic wood to reduce costs while retaining most of the strength of lime.
