Pool Table Construction: Hardwoods Vs Mdf
Before the introduction of MDF into the industry, pool tables (as well as pool tables and pool tables) has always been made from hardwood.

The introduction of MDF to the industry pool table created a wealth of cheaper, less durable models which, for the first time, pool tables at a price affordable for anyone. The main reason for the introduction of cheaper, smaller pool tables has been for domestic consumption market. These tables are not hand made / finished as their predecessors were, but machine.
The main advantage of the greater availability of pool tables, which had formerly been the preserve of very rich is that the game of pool has been brought to a wider audience. Whereas before he had to join a club, or be old enough A pub to go to play, people can now enjoy the game in their own home.
The main disadvantages of using a less expensive, man-like composite MDF are that it is not as durable as a natural wood, and should more sensitive to changes in humidity and temperature. To maintain the appearance of a "real" pool table , the table bed MDF are generally finished with a veneer effect (usually mahogany, rosewood or oak) and domestic fabric quality rubber.
The use of MDF has also extended to certain slate bed pool tables. Similarly to pool tables only MDF, the cabinet and legs of the table are finished MDF reinforced. A wood effect veneer is then applied to MDF at the end of the pool table off. The two main benefits to end a billiard table of this kind are:
1. Production costs are too high, as MDF is much cheaper (not to mention the environment Kinder) to produce
2. A greater variety finishes can be applied to the table, rather than a traditional hardwood polished as before
Is a shame that the traditional methods of construction decreased pool table that need consumer goods less expensive to produce, but as we have seen above, it is not all bad news. While reducing the use of hardwood pool tables may offend some, it has the advantage reduce deforestation and preserve the diminishing supply of hardwood.
