Kitchen Cabinets-Choosing the right type of wood

When you start shopping for kitchen cabinets, the type of wood used is equally important the overall look or finish of the cabinets. Depending on whether you are buying RTA (ready-to-assemble), stock, semi-custom cabinets, or custom will great impact on the forest types that are available for you to select. custom cabinetry, we offer the largest selection of wood types, but you can also pay much for them. Here is a list of types of wood you can find in your search for kitchen cabinets (in order of price)

Paint year
Painting Wood quality can actually consist of a wide range of types of wood. Most actions and semi-custom cabinet companies apply a finish painting may even use MDF or particle instead of wood. The most common paint grade wood will be birch, poplar, or maple.

Oak
Oak is probably the most widely used wood for cabinets. Most contractor grade cabinets, and more economically priced cabinets will be oak. Oak is available in over 200 different species and is cultivated throughout the world. The most common finish for oak cabinets is just a natural or finish honey. Oak is a solid, dense wood that holds up to everyday use and can accept stain well.

Pine
Pin is available in three different versions of white, yellow or ponderosa. White pine can be very easy to work and accept stain easily, while ponderosa will require special attention because of the resin can be further concentrated in the wood. Pine is ideal for creating a rustic feel to your home.

Maple
Maple is another type of wood commonly used and can be found in a wide variety of species. This is probably the wood most often in Cabinets RTA, because it grows abundantly in Northern China and most RTA cabinets come from China. There are also over 10 species of maple coming out of the United States, so there is a wide variety of grains. Most maple is very easy to work and accept easy task. Maple finishes well in any color, finish with a honey brown glaze.

Cherry
Cherry is generally used in the midrange high-end furniture. The unique feature about Cherry is that with a light stain applied, it will actually be worse with time. With aging timber and is exposed to sunlight, it will rise to the reddish brown color most people associate with antique furniture cherry.

Bamboo
With the push to go green, cabinets increasingly being designed using bamboo. Bamboo is a hearty plant that grows quickly. Largest downside is that bamboo has to be pressed against another tree, because the plants do not grow bamboo thick enough to cut into planks. At now, you will find that bamboo used by custom shops primarily on the West Coast

Mahogany
Mahogany creates a very rich look, and the wood itself is reddish brown. Apart from exotic woods, this will be one of the most expensive options in the types of wood together. Mahogany accepts stain very well, but not a drink too strong.
